Courageous Conversation: The Practice of Anti-racism in the Yoga Community by Dr. Monea T. Abdul-Majeed Live via Zoom. This workshop is designed to create a safe environment for participants to discuss issues related to racism in the yoga community and beyond.

The objectives include:
●To understand key terms related to racial equity.
●To become more comfortable discussing racism.
●To explore a holistic approach to antiracism using the 3 R’s: reflection, relationships, and resilience.
●To build a beloved community and strengthen racial equity in the Yoga community and beyond

About Dr. Monea
Dr. Monea Majeed is a Racial Justice Educator and 500-hour, Certified Yoga Teacher. She serves as Racial JusticeCoordinator at YWCA York, where she is responsible for leading the organization and York community to racial equalitythrough training, community events, and involvement with York school districts, non-profits, for profits, boards, andfaith-communities. She has over 19 years of experience in organizational leadership, statistical analysis, training,project management, and professorship. She received her bachelor’s degree in sociology and politics from Washingtonand Lee University in 2004. In 2010, she earned her doctoral degree in Sociology and Political Science from HowardUniversity, where her concentration was Social Inequality (Race, Gender, and Ethnicity) and Urban Sociology. Her dissertation title was, “A Historical Materialist Analysis of the Shifts in African American Family Formation, 1960-2008.”
