Jason C Smith describes his classes as “accessible” yoga. He especially aims to make the yoga experience available to people who are having pain, injuries, and/or needing to maintain and strengthen their fortune of good health. In 1999 he began practicing yoga with a competitive athlete’s intensity, but in 2004, at 31 years old, his life dramatically changed. He became partially paralyzed, due to years of too many high impact collisions on his whole body. During this period of great suffering (two years of not walking) he began rediscovering yoga from the ground up, slowly, therapeutically, in gentle mindfulness, self compassion, breathing techniques. In 2017, he completed a 500 hour Somatic Yoga Therapist, studying under Janice Gates and is also currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.
